TOTAL CROSS SECTIONS FOR NEUTRON-NEUTRON INTERACTIONS AT 8.3 Bev (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Eksperim. i Teor. Fiz.

The total cross section for neutron-neutron interactions was measured by various methods using 50.1 and 55.60 g/cm/sup 2/ thick H/sub 2/O and D/sub 2/O targets. The result for an effective energy of ontrol migra- 8.3 Bev was olytic C and /sub nn/ = 31.5 surface proces 1.7 mb. According to Lindenbaum et al. (Phys. Rev. Let., 7: 185(1961)), within the limits of error the olytic C and /sub t/(pp) = 39.5 surface proces 1 mb. Substituting the experimental magnitudes of total cross sections olytic C and /sub pp/ and olytic C and /sub nn/, shielding corrections, deg C). The re olytic C and surface proces 8 mb, are in good agreement with 7.2 mb obtained by Glauber (Phys. Rev. Let., 100: 242(1955)) for v(r) ontrol migra- trol migration (e/sup trol migration r/- 1)/sup -1/ppotential. (R.V.J.)
