DOSIMETRY OF FAST NEUTRONS WITH NUCLEAR TRACK FILMS (in German)

Journal Article · · Atompraxis (West Germany) Incorporated in Kerntechnik
OSTI ID:4704130
In the dosimetry of fast neutrons with nuclear track films, the following methodological problems arise: 1. dependence of track number upon neutron energy; 2. coordination of track number and dose; 3. influence of the body on the reading of the personal dosimeter; 4. possibility of using nuclear track film for neutron energies of over 14 Mev. The demonstrational probability and dose coordination are derived in their relation to neutron energy, and the results are applied to various known neutron spectra as well as to a random sampling of energy distributions. The influence of the body on dose determination was ascertained experimentally with the aid of a dummy. From this, estimates were made of the margins of methodological error in using nuclear track films for neutron dosimetry. (auth)
