The spin of indium-117

The nuclear spin of the 45-min ground state of In117 was measured by atomic-beam magnetic resonance. Atomic beams containing In117 were formed and resonances were sought at frequencies corresponding to a number of high spin values in the 2P1/2 electronic state. Runs were carried out at magnetic fields of 10, 15, 20, and 36 Gauss. The assignment I = 9/2 was made to this isotope in agreement with a previous shell-model prediction.
