Methods are given for the successive syntheses of three compounds: o- nitrophenylarsonic acid by the interaction of diazotized o-nitroanaline with an alkaline solution of sodium arsenite; o-aminophenylarsonic acid by reducing o- nitrophenylarsonic acid with ferrous chloride and sodium hydroxide; and arsenazo III (1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene 3,6-disuifonic acid-2,7-bisSTA(azo-2)-phenylarsonic acid!) by the azo addition of diazotized o-aminophenylarsonic acid and chromotropic acid.
