PRECIPITATION OF SCANDIUM HYDROXIDE AND OXALATE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Neorgan. Khim.
OSTI ID:4702353

A quantitative precipitation of Sc was achieved by ammonium and sodium hydroxide solutions. Effective precipitation depends on the scandium concentration, the amount of ammonium and NaOH, and on the additional precipitator with NH/sub 4/Cl. The losses of scandium in the filter did not exceed l mg/l Sc/sub 2/O/sub 3/. Precipitation of scandium by oxalic acid in weak solution was carried out using Sc/sub 2/O/sub 3/ > 5 g/l; 97% separatlon was obtained. At large concentrations of Sc (50 to 100 Sc/sub 2/O g/l) the precipitation is 99.6%. (R.V.J.)
