EFFECT OF TRANSVERSE MAGNETIC FIELD ON HEAT TRANSFER TO AN ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING AND THERMAL RADIATING FLUID FLOWING IN A PARALLEL-PLATE CHANNEL

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4702340
The heat transfer and the temperature distributions for an electrically conducting, thermal-radiation-absorbing and -emitting, viscous, incompressible fluid flowing between two parallel plates in a constant external magnetic field perpendicular to the flow and plates are investigated. Temperature distributions are evaluated for a number of parameters, and calculated heat transfer characteristics are presented. The magnetic field effect is apparently to increase heat transfer by conduction as well as radiation. (D.C.W.)
