THE MECHANISM OF A DIELS-ALDER REACTION

Nuclear magnetic resonance studies were carried out on the deuterium isotope effect in the decomposition of the Diels-Alder adduct from 2-methylfuran and maleic anhydride. The results indicate that both bonds break simultaneously in the reversion. (D.L.C.)
