DETERMINATION OF SOME IMPURITIES IN BERYLLIUM BY NEUTRON ACTIVATION (in French)

Journal Article · · Bull. Soc. Chem. France
OSTI ID:4699622

Activation analysis is used to determine trace impurities in beryllium acetate and metallic beryllium by measuring the average and long-lived radioisotopes formed by neutron irradiation in a flux of ontrol migra- 5 x 10/ sup 12/ n/cm/sup 2//sec. Some elements are measured in a nondestructive manner (Mn, Cu, and Na), whereas for others chemical separations are necessary (rare earths, Cr, Sc, Fe, Co, Zn, Ta, and Ni). All the measurements are made by gamma spectrometry. The sensitivity limits obtained lie between 5 x 10/sup -10/ and ontrol migra- 5 x 10/sup -6/ g according to the element. (tr-auth)
