TEMPERATURE EFFECTS ON URANYL STATE IN NITRIC ACID SOLUTIONS (in Russian)

The dependence of uranyl absorption spectra on the nitric acid concentration at various temperatures was studied in order to determine the complexing of uranyl with nitrate ions as a function of temperature. A rise in temperature at nitric acid concentration up to 4 N increases the complex formation with nitrate ions. An increase in temperature at 6 N nitric acid does not affect the complexing. It was found that uranyl ions in aqueous solutions have a structure STAU(OH)/sub4/!/sup 2+/ in addition to the (UO/sub 2/(H/sup 2/O)/ sub 2/! /sup 2+/. The neptunyl, plutonyl, and americyl ions were also constructed. The OH groups form plane covalent complexes with Me(VI) in the center by means of f/sup 3/d-hybrid bonds. The stability of aqueous solutions drops from uranyl to americyl due to the increased number of bare f-electrons. (R.V.J.)
