A tailored slag cement, alkali activated slag cement to solidify LLW wastes containing sodium nitrate salt was studied. It was shown that the solidification has a capability to stabilize the pulverized sodium nitrate and the simulated DOE tank waste with a high volume reduction. The leachability of nitrate, nitrite and radionuclides in the waste products was lower than that of ordinary cement products.
