ANTIPYRINE AND ITS CERTAIN DERIVATIVES AS ANALYTICAL REAGENTS FOR CERIUM(IV) (in Russian)

The photometric determination of small amounts of Ce(IV) by means of diantipyrils in the presence of large amounts of elements, which usually interfere with cerium determination, was demonstrated. A study was made of the absorption of the products of photochemical oxidation and of the absorption and stability in time of the products of oxidation with Ce(IV) salts of antipyrine and a number of its analogs. It was shown that diantipyrilphenylmethane and triantipyrilmethane interact with Ce(IV) salts in a molar ratio of 1: 2 that confirms the structural formula for a dye formed on diantipyrilphenylmethane oxidation. On the basis of the data about the molar ratios in Ce reactions the molar extinction coefficients of the dyes formed on the oxidation of dimethylaminoantipyrine, diantipyrilphenylmethane, and triantipyrilmethane with Ce(IV) salts were calculated. Diantipyril-4-isopropylmethane, diantipyril-4- bromophenylmethane, diantipyril-2,4-dihydroxyphenylmethane, diantipyril-3,4- dihydroxyphenylmethane, diantipyrilfurilmethane, diantipyrilthiophenylmethane, diantipyrilethylenemethane, and 3,3' -diantipyril-1-phenylpropylene-1,2 were synthesized for the first time.
