The solution of the monoenergetic neutron transport equation of Boltzmann was reduced in the case of isotropic scattering and plane geometry to the solution of an integral equation. By use of the Gilerkinsche'' method on this integral equation a simple and efficient numerical process was developed. With the help of some values for the solution of the neutron transport equation, in dependence on the inhomogeneity (source) and the remaining physical constants, an important class of error values was derived from the Galerkinsche'' approximation solution. From these values the existence and clearness of solution to the neutron transport equation is well is a convergence proof for the Galerkinsche'' process were demonstrated. The Galerkinsche'' method was compared in some examples with other numerical processes. (tr-auth)
