K INTERNAL CONVERSION COEFFICIENTS OF TRANSITIONS IN Ba$sup 13$$sup 4$

Journal Article · · Arkiv Fysik

K internal conversion coefficients were measured for the 2+ yields 0+, 605-kev transition and for the 563- and 569-kev transitions, which were assigned 2+ yields 2+ and 4+ yields 4+ respectively, in Ba/sup 134/. These measurements were carried out with an iron-free, double-focusing spectrometer by using the internal-external conversion method. Possible instrumental distortions of the data were investigated. epsilon /sub K/ of the 505-kev transition was measured to be (4.65 plus or minus 0.3) x 10/sup -3/. This may be compared with the theoretical E2 value of 5.1 x 10/sup -3/ from Sliv and Band and from Rose. epsilon /sub K/ values of (5.5 plus or minus 1.0) x 10/sup -3/ and (8.5 plus or minus 1.3) x 10/sup -3/ were measured for the 563- and 569-kev transitions, respectively. From the conversion coefficient data, mixing ratios were determined to be approx equal 100% E2 for the 563-kev transition and 100% M1 for the 569-kev transition. (auth)
