Methods are developed for determining the shapes of charged particle beams in a uniform electrostatic field considering space charge. Working nomograms are analyzed, and it is shown that the numerical solution offered by H. Mose (Wireless Eng., 22; 316(1956)) has only limited application. (tr-auth)
