NONPERTURBING FOILS--AN EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION

Journal Article · · Nuclear Science and Engineering (U.S.)
OSTI ID:4695753

Eperiments were conducted to confirm the nonperturbing nature of foils whose moderating ratio is equal to that of the medium. The medium studied was water, and the foils were in the form of D/sub 2/O solutions of indium nitrate in cylindrical lucite containers. The results showed that foils of thickness varying by a factor of four yield the same specific activity, and that the specific activity of these foils is equal to the unperturbed value determined by an extrapolation method.
