EFFECT OF DRYING TEMPERATURE ON THE ION-EXCHANGE PROPERTIES OF ZIRCONIUM PHOSPHATE (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Studi Ric. Div. Geomineraria, Comit. Nazl. Ric. Nucl.
OSTI ID:4694647

The ion-exchange properties of zirconium phosphate, dried at temperatures ranging from 150 to 850 deg , were compared with those of zirconium phosphate dried at 50 deg . In addition to partially irreversible dehydration, permanent changes in certain properties of zirconium phosphate dried at temperatures above 150 deg were observed. Variations in selectivity for certain ions of ZP dried at high temperature can be employed to improve the separation of the ions from each other. All phenomena observed can be explained by the assumption that an increase in drying temperature causes a greater condensation in the structure of the exchanger. (auth)
