AUTOMATIC CRANE CUTOFF DEVICE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4693879
An overload safety device was designed to prevent the cable of a traveling crane from breaking when the load is snagged. When an overload occurs, a spring-mounted pulley deflects and actuates limit switches to shut off the crane and hoist motors. To accommodate inertial motion of the crane, the pulley will deflect about 8 inches before the load limit of the cable is reached. (auth)
