Evidence for the existence of an isobar with isotropic spin 3/2 from proton-proton collisions at 3.5 Bev was investigated. The isobar can decay into any combination of nucleon and meson( pi ), depending on the Z-component of the isotropic spin. An attempt was made to limit the sample of events to those with a single neutron or meson( pi /sup o/). All events with two secondary tracks were subjected to a missing mass calculation to determine which events had only one secondary meson( pi . Q values for all combinations of nucleon-meson( pi ) pairs were calculated. Approximately 45% had Q values that indicate an isobar decay. (C.E.S.)
