STEAM GENERATING SYSTEM
A steam generator is designed which is heated by an organic cooling liquid circulating through a nuclear reactor and provided with means for the removal of shut-down heat from the reactor when pumping power is not available to circulate the organic liquid. These means consist in placing the steam generator at a higher level than the reactor core, so that a convection flow of reactor coolant can be maintained. The steam generator is supplied with water and feeds steam to a steam drum disposed in such a way that a convection flow of water through the steam generator can be maintained. A circuit is provided for removal of steam from the drum, so that steam can be moved by convection flow through a heat sink and return as water to the drum. (NPO)
