The velocity of propagation of electroacoustic waves is decisive for the production of shock waves in plasma and for its expansion into vacuum. The relations derived for this velocity from the equations of a hydrodynamical description agree with the experimental results in the literature. The motion of strong shock waves in plasma is defined by the motion of the plasma immediately beyond the front of the wave. In order to accelerate this cluster of plasma either the method of discharge motion between two parallel electrodes or the method of cluster motion in the magnetic field of accelerating coils can be used. The disturbance of the quasi-neutrality of the wave front can also be assumed. The first method is sufficiently well known. For the second method an expression was derived for the acceleration as a function of the field configuration. The third method could only be discussed due to a lack of experimental material. (auth)
