ENERGY AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF PROMPT NEUTRONS FROM SLOW NEUTRON FISSION OF U$sup 23$$sup 5$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The angular and energy distributions of prompt neutrons from slow neutron fission of U/sup 235/ were measured for energies 0.4--11.3 Mev and for amgles 0--180 deg relative to the direction of motion of the light fragments. The analysis of the results gives as the main features that about 85% of the neutrons are evaporated isotropically from moving fragments with a Maxwellian energy distribution, and that about 15% of the neutrons are emitted during the fission process itself with an evaporation energy spectrum.
