EXTRACTION-PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF BORON IN URANIUM TETRAFLUORIDE

An extraction-photometric method for B determination in UF/sub 4/ is described. The sample is decomposed by heating in a carbonate solution in the presence of H/sub 2/O/sub 2/, then B is extracted with dichloroethane as methylene blue tetrafluoroborate from a H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solution, and the optical density of the extract is measured. The sensitivity of the method is 8 x 10/sup -5/%. The experimental error when amounts of 8 x 10/sup -5/ to 4 x 10/sup -3/% of boron are determined is within plus or minus 5%. (auth)
