OXIDATIVE DEAMINATION OF SEVERAL AMINO ACIDS IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION BY GAMMA IRRADIATION

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University (Japan)
OSTI ID:4688028

A general overall reaction of oxidative deamination of amino acid in aqueous solution, H/sub 2/NRCHCOOH yields NH/sub 3/ + RCOCOOH, was characterized on leucine, alpha -aminobutyric acid, and aspartic acid after exposure to gamma irradiation. Keto acids corresponding to the parent amino acids were produced by gamma irradiation and determined quantitatively by chromatography and spectroscopic measurements after being derived to 2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazones. Some spectroscopic and chromatographic properties of the keto acid hydrazones are reported. (auth)
