IMPURITY EFFECTS IN HIGH-PURITY METALS

Journal Article · · Am. Soc. Testing Mater., Spec. Tech. Publ.
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1520/STP45070S· OSTI ID:4687686
The effects of impurities on high-purity metals is evaluated in terms of the rate at which the science of metals is advancing, and what is needed to enhance materials knowledge. The definition of purity, types of effects, and hydrogen embrittlement are discussed, along with examples of impurity effects in Fe, Ag, W, Al, and Cr. (P.C.H.)
