COMPUTER PROGRAMS DESCRIBING COLLISION CASCADES IN BINARY MATERIALS. III. BODY-CENTERED CUBIC AND FACE-CENTERED CUBIC STRUCTURES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4687500
The third in a series of IBM 7090 computer programs simulating radiation damage events in binary materials is described. The present work cornbines in one program the facility for simulating cascades in body-centered cubic and face- centered cubic structures. The computational model is similar to that used in the earlier calculations for a square planar lattice and for a wurtzite structure, with refinernents in two important areas. The assumption of binary elastic collisions remains, but the collision parameters may be computed from an arbitrarily defined potential rather than being restricted to a hard-sphere approximation to the Bohr potential. In addition, the model for atomic displacement was considerably generalized. (auth)
