THE EXPRESSION, VALIDITY, AND APPLICATION OF A STABILITY CRITERION (in French)

A necessary and sufficient stability criterion has been established (Compt. Rend., 256: 1469(1963)) for a lowpressure hot plasma without magnetic surfaces. Another expression of this criterion and three other means of obtaining it are given. It is shown that it is not modified by mirror losses and by the effect of low resistivity. The interest of magnetic walls'' is discussed. (tr-auth)
