Water Discharge Measurement in Compact Core of FRJ-1; WASSERDURCHFLUSSMESSUNGEN IM KOMPAKTEN KERN DES FRJ-1

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4685960
On the lattice slab of the reactor a compact core was formed with 17 fuel element mockups, of which 8 were provided with baffle tubes for measurement of flow. The remaining part of the lattice is composed of 14 reflector elements and 48 blank elements. The flow was measured in both experimental planes; it amounted to, on the average, about 14 m/sup 3//hr per fuel element. In following steps up to 11 blank elements on both sides of the core were removed from the lattice. That caused a decrease in fiow per fuel eIement to about 8.2 m/sup 3// hr. In a special testing arrangement, the standard curve for a baffle tube was plotted. By means of a slight modification of the testing arrangement it is possible to perform standard measurements for blank and refiector elements. On the basis of theoretical considerations and the standards, the pressure difference over the core was ascertained to be 0.16 kg/cm/sup 2/. At the inlet and outlet of the primary pumps the total pressure difference in the primary circuit was measured as about 1.89 kg/cm/sup 2/. (tr-auth)
