SELF-CONSISTENT CALCULATION OF THE JOSEPHSON CURRENT

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters

The boundary conditions imposed on the Landau-Ginzburg equation by the presence of a tunneling junction separating two identical superconductors are derived. The conditions are used to derive the current crossing the junction. Generalization of the method for the presence of a magnetic field is also considered. The derivations provide a link between the Gorkov self-consistency equations for the pairing potential and the superfluid tunneling current at zero voltage predicted by Josephson. (D.C.W.)
