DERIVATION OF TRANSFER FUNCTIONS OF NATURAL CIRCULATION BOILING WATER REACTOR

The dynamic behavior of a natural circulation boiling water reactor is complicated because it includes the dynamics of the void generation in the core and the hydrodynamic considerations in connection with the determination of the recirculation flow. The transfer functions are obtained under several basic assumptions. Efforts are made to cover all the important features of the boiling water reactor dynamics and also to avoid too complex expressions to simulate on an analog computer. The basic assumptions used are: the distribution of the parameters in the axial direction of the core is taken into account, while the change in radial direction is ignored; the distribution of heat flux along the channel is considered uniform; and the slip between the steam and the water is ignored.
