THE PASTE FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE DECONTAMINATION (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Proc. Japan Conf. Radioisotopes
OSTI ID:4682809
For surface decontamination, a paste is often better than a solution of reagents to prevent contamination from spreading. The properties required for the paste are high stability, high decontamination ability, suitable stiffness on the contaminated surface, and low cost of waste disposal. Pastes of titanium dioxide, bentonite, and sodium alginate to which were added surface active agents and chelating agents were examined. Plates of plastic floor material were contaminated with F. P. in HNO/sup 3/ solution, about 22,000 cpm respectively. Then the plates were treated with pastes on the decontamination polishing test machine. The compositions of the best pastes for surface decontamination are shown. The relation of the decontamination abilities of the three best pastes to the pH of the contaminant was examined. (A.G.W.)
