PLUTONIUM RECYCLE CRITICAL FACILITY LIGHT WATER DILUTION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4682446
A study was made of the reactivity status in the PRCF following a cell flooding event which would add H/sub 2/O to the core. A 55-inch D/sub 2/O moderator level was assumed, and a fuel loading of 17 Pu-Al Mark I type fuel elements on an 8-inch equilateral triangolar lattice was calculated to have a critical moderator level it 55 inches. The effects of H/sub 2/O dilution of D/ sub 2/O on the reactivity were calculated up to 50% dilution (110-inch moderator level) and are shown graphically. A continuous reactivity decrease was noted with increasing H/sub 2/O addition. (D.L.C.)
