DETERMINATION OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF THALLIUM BY ISOTOPE DILUTION METHOD (in Polish)

A method of extracting Tl, labeled with Tl/sup 204/ of a known activity, was developed. It consists of extraction by chloroform solution of dithizone from solutions containing sodium hydroxide, sodium potassium tartrate, and potassium cyanide. Thallium is stripped from the chloroform solution of dithizonates with triple distilled water. From the aqueous solution Tl is repeatedly extracted as Tl dithizonate, which is in turn decomposed with acetic acid. The dithizone solution obtained is determined colorimetrically. After determination of acetic acid solution activity, the total amount of Tl is calculated by the isotope dilution. It was found that Pb/sup 2+/, Cd/sup 2+/, Zn/ sup 2+/, Fe/sup 3+/, Co/sup 2+/, Ni/sup 2+/, Hg/sup 2 +/, Bi/sup 3+/, Ag/sup +/, and Cu/sup 2+/ do not interfere. The method was used for the determination of Tl in chamber dusts. (auth)
