SOME REMARKS ON SYMMETRIES SHARED BY STRONG AND WEAK INTERACTIONS

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
A slight modification of the set of transformations suggested by Treiman and Pais and extended by Fujii to include K interactions is shown to leave a wide class of weak interaction Hamiltonians invariant under these transformations and to lead to the experimentally observed result, alpha /sub XI /= -- alpha / sub LAMBDA /. The product of these transformations is shown to be an R- invariance which is consistent with an octet symmetry for the baryons and bosons. The transformations are extended to include the leptons and some consequences are given. (auth)
