Optimum conditions producing various thorium complexes with mandelic and alpha -hydroxyisobutyric acids were studied by ion exchange method. Thorium complexes STAThA!/sup 3+/, STAThA/sub 2/!/sup 2+/, STAThA/sub 3/!/sup 1+/, and STAThA/sub 3.5/!/su p 0.5+/ form with acid concentrations from 0.01 to 0.1 M, mu = 0.2 and pH == 2.2. The stability constants of formed complexes were determined and correlated. (R.V.J.)
