A BEAM OF POLARIZED NEUTRONS OBTAINED BY REFLECTION FROM A MAGNETIZED COBALT MIRROR (in Russian)

An efficient method for obtaining a beam of polarized neutrons by reflection from a magnetized cobalt mirror is discussed. The incident beam of thermal neutrons is formed by a collimator with a maximum angle of deviation of 12 min. The degree of polarization was determined by reflecting the beam from a second cobalt mirror. The degree of polarization was (94 plus or minus 2)% and the flux of the polarized neutrons was 3 x 10/sup 5/ n cm/sup -2/ sec/sup -1/. The experimental apparatus was illustrated. (C.E.S.)
