The tritium content of atmospheric hydrogen and atmospheric methane

Journal Article · · Journal of Geophysical Research
The tritium content of atmospheric hydrogen was found to be much higher than that of tropospheric moisture. Addition of man-made tritium was also noted to have increased the tritium content of molecular H by a factor of 20, while the amount of tritiated H remained within a factor of five. The tritium content of nonthern hemispheric tropospheric CH4 was higher than that of CH4 from the stratosphere and the southern troposphere, suggesting an origin of tritium in the northern hemisphere.
