THE IS-2S EXCITATION OF HYDROGEN ATOMS BY ELECTRON IMPACT, CALCULATED WITH THE USE OF THE SECOND BORN APPROXIMATION INCLUSIVE OF EXCHANGE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4673071

The second Born approximation with the inclusion of exchange is used for the calculation of the 1S-2S excitation cross section of hydrogen by electron impact to terms of the third order in the interaction energy. The intermediate states 1S, 2S, 2P/sub 0, plus or minus 1/, 3S are taken into account. The cross sections found are compared with experimental values and with results obtained by other theoretical methods. (auth)
