Title: DETECTION OF POSITRONS IN A MAGNETIC /cap beta/-RAY SPECTROMETER BY MEANS OF THEIR ANNIHILATION RADIATION TO INVESTIGATE TRANSITIONS INVOLVING THE EMISSION OF POSITRONS WITH LOW INTENSITY

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods

For the detection of positrons, two scintillation counters equipped with specially designed NaI(Tl) crystals introduced into a BETA -ray spectrometer of toroid-sector type were used in coincidence. Thereby the study of positron transitions of low intensity (10/sup -4/ to 10/sup -5/ positrons per disintegration) was possible while there was no cut-off whatsoever for positrons of low energy and the rejection ratio was practically infinite.
