Tritiated water is washed from the gas, purified, and the BETA activity measured. The carbon dioxide in the dried gas is absorbed in potassium hydroxide and the hydrogen and hydrocarbons in the residual gas oxidized. The water produced is purified and its BETA activity measured. The method is applicable to a concentration range of 10/sup 4/ to 10/sup 8/ dpm/liter of coolant. (auth)
