$mu$$sup -$ CAPTURE IN He$sup 4$

The total capture rate is calculated by summing explicitiy over tue possible final states, previous calculations having used a closure approximation to perform tuis summation. In addition, by means of a more general closure argument, a recent experimental value for the capture rate is shown to be incompatible with the capture interaction of Fujii and Primakoff and the generally accepted features of the He/sup 4/ ground state wave function.
