The forward-backward asymmetry of recoil nuclei in the reaction Al27(n, α)Na24

The forward-backward asymmetry obtained by Csikai for the Al27 (n, alpha) Na24 reaction with 14.8 Mev neutrons supports sharp forward and backward peaking in the angalar distribution thereby indicating low values for the spin cutoff parameters. Calculations of the forward-backward asymmetry ratio show that the ratio depends less on the form of the angular distribution than on the form of the energy spectrum. Thus, measurement of this ratio alone can not determine the correct angular distribution.
