The comparative descriptions of the natural-uranium, graphite, and carbon-dioxide reactors G1 and G2 at Marcoule and EDF1, EDF2, and EDF3 at Chinon point out the stages of evolution which tend to depict the model of French nuclear power stations of the future. The particularities which characterize these power reactors are discussed, and an account of the tests carried out on scale models and prototypes, with a view of developing the reactors and the associated equipment, is given.
