Ozone and chemical composition of aerosols measured at Cheju Island, Korea are presented and discussed. A Dasibi ozone analyzer and an eight stage Andersen sampler were installed at 1100 m station located in Cheju Island to measure ozone and aerosols from February 1994 to December 1994. Ozone concentrations range from 25ppb to 75ppb. The arithmetic mean was 50ppb with little diurnal variation. Pollution rose shows that ozone concentrations were higher when W, NW, N winds prevailed. Chemical analysis of aerosols show that SO{sub 4}{sup =}, Cl{sup -}, and NO{sub 3}{sup -}, range {approximately}6{mu}g/m{sup 3}, {approximately}5{mu}g/m{sup 3}, and {approximately}1{mu}g/m{sup 3} respectively, and that they are highly concentrated in aerosols of submicron size. Also Na{sup +} was highest with a 13{mu}g/m{sup 3} maximum and the NH{sup +}{sub 4} was lowest with less than 0.5{mu}g/m{sup 3} on all stages. A comparison of Na{sup +}{sub 4} and Cl{sup -} between the 1100 station and Kosan station shows that Kosan (70m above sea level) is affected more by sea salts than the 1100 station.
