EXPERIENCES ON ANALYZING ROCKS OF MINUTE THORIUM CONTENT AND RAPID DETERMINATION OF THORIUM ON USING ARSENAZO III (in Russian)

The suitability of certain reagents for analysis of rocks of minute thorium content was investigated. Of these, toron appeared to be unsuited for serial tests and SPADNS could only be used for analyzing pure thorium solution. Arsenazo II lends itself to use after an adequate separation. Arsenazo III without any previous separation is suitable in determining thorium in rocks of conventional composition. In rock samples which contain 1% of titanium or some hundredth per cent of uranium, a previous separation with tributyl phosphate in an oxalate or hydrochloric acid medium is necessary. The method can be reliably used in thorium contents of 0.001%. The preparation of the reagent is discussed. (auth)
