XITE--A DIGITAL PROGRAM FOR THE ANALYSIS OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL BOILING FLOW TRANSIENTS WITH FLUID EXPANSION

The XITE program for analysis of steady-state and transient behavior in a single reactor coolant channel is described. The XITE program, like its predecessor TITE, represents a vertical rectangular channel with twodimensional flow and a nonuniform axial and transverse heat flux distribution at the walls. Unlike the TITE program, XITE includes the time derivative of fluid density in the continuity equation such that more rapid transients (e.g., flow oscillations) can be analyzed. The XITE model treats two-dimensional convection of mass, momentum, and energy in the coolant for subcooled, nucleate and bulk boiling conditions. Time variations in power, inlet enthalpy, and either inlet mass velocity or channel pressure drop may be imposed as transient driving functions. The XITE program was assembled by the ALTAC system for a 32,000 word Philco 2000 computer. (auth)
