The optical pumping principle, with the observation of the circularly polarized D/sub 1/ radiation that was transmitted through the vapor, was used to obtain the paramagnetic resonance fine structures of optically aligned Cs/sup 133/ , Rb/sup 85/, and Rb/sup 87. In Cs/sup 133/ and Rb/sup 87/ there are two peaks corresponding to F = 3,4 and 1,2 respectively. In Rb/sup 85/ the peak seems to be an assembly of many peaks. In Cs/sup 133/ the two peaks split into many peaks as the magnetic field increases to 8 gauss or more. The theoretical resonance fine structures calculated under the same conditions are also shown.
