(n,$alpha$) REACTIONS ON HEAVY NUCLEI WITH 14.7 Mev NEUTRONS

The energy spectra of alpha particles produced by the interaction of 14.7-Mev neutrons with Ho/sup 165/, Lu/sup 175/, Ta/sup 181/, and Au/sup 197/ were studied by means of a solid state detector. The differential cross section was measured at an average angle of 30 deg . In the cases of tantalum and gold, the ratio between the alpha particle emission in the forward and backward directions were determined. (auth)
