Photoproduction of positive pions on hydrogen between 200 and 450 MeV: I. Range-telescope method

Range-telescope measurements of the photoproduction of mesons ( pi +) on hydrogen between 200 and 450 Mev are presented. The photon beam was produced by the reactions of an electron beam with a tungsten target. Liquid hydrogen was used. The range telescope consisted of 5 plastic scintillators and one threshold Cherenkov counter. Before calculating the differential cross section, the measured counting rates were corrected for background, random coincidences, and for systematical effects on the counting rate connected with the telescope method. Results are presented in tabular form. (M.C.G.)
