This package contains 7 drawings. The model II shoe monitor is an improved version of the walk-through shoe monitor. This later version has improved circuitry and has 32 G-M tubes mounted beneath a plaiform. The model I monitor employs 28 G-M tubes. Significant amounts of beta particles or gamma radiation detected by the G-M tubes are indicated by counting meters in a separate console that also provides visual and aural alarms if a predetermined alarm level is exceeded. The G-M tubes are connected in eight sets of four tubes each. There are 8 count rate meters. The out-put current of each count rate circuit operates a contact meter relay. The contacts in the meter relays, when closed on an alarm indication, actuate a second relay that energizes the a-c alarm circuits. A walk-through monitor for hands and shoes is included. (F.E.S.)
