ON THE DECONTAMINATION OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE WATER BY FERRIC HYDROXIDE FLOCCULATION. PART I

Journal Article · · Ann. Rept. Radiation Center Osaka Prefect.
OSTI ID:4649173
The decontamination properties of ferric hydroxide flocculation were investigated in the case that only very small amounts of foreign matter are present in the water to be decontaminated. The pH value of the reacting medium was found to have a serious effect on the decontamination. The main decontamination process is completed when the ferric hydroxide particles are formed in the reacting medium. Stirring after this stage produced no further improvement in decontamination. No noticeable difference was found between the flocculations in a beaker and in a flocculator under the same conditions. (P.C.H.)
